Our expertise

Dedicated specialists in textile and fibre care

Achieving a good result in carpet and rug cleaning depends on precise fibre identification and chemistry tailored to it. Every textile calls for its own approach, from durable synthetics through to delicate viscose, wool and hand-knotted pieces.

Our daily dedication to this single craft means our technicians have the specialised knowledge needed to settle on the exact treatment before any equipment is deployed. That expertise is what allows us to restore your most valuable floor coverings safely, and it is what lets you hand them over with confidence.

01

Certified in-house specialists

Every job is handled by full-time technicians certified through The Carpet Guys Academy, working to WoolSafe Organisation standards on natural fibres. Our own trained team arrives with the knowledge, chemistry and equipment your specific textiles require.

02

Transparent, all-inclusive quotes

We provide comprehensive pricing upfront. Professional deodorisation, stain and urine treatment, pile rejuvenation and a hypoallergenic rinse are built into every quote, so you receive a complete service with no call-out fees and no unexpected add-ons.

03

Honest about what cannot be fixed

During our initial inspection we give you an honest evaluation of your textiles. Permanent conditions such as sun fading, existing dye bleed or fibre oxidation cannot be reversed by cleaning, and we identify and explain those limitations before any work begins.

04

Rapid drying, back to normal the same day

Our extraction technique and low-moisture process leave carpets dry and ready for foot traffic within 2–6 hours. You get a thorough deep clean with minimal downtime and very little disruption to your household.

05

1-Month Satisfaction Guarantee

We stand behind the quality of our workmanship, and every service is backed by our 1-month satisfaction guarantee. If you are not completely satisfied with a treated area within 30 days, our team returns and re-cleans it at no additional cost.

How we work

Our 7-step carpet cleaning process

Every carpet is different, which is why we take the time to prepare it properly before cleaning. From the initial assessment to the final grooming, each step is designed to give your carpets a thorough, professional clean.

Read the full process
01

Initial Assessment

We inspect your carpet, look for stains and problem areas, and identify the fibre type we are working with. This is what tells us the right way to clean it.

02

Pre-Vacuum

We vacuum the carpet thoroughly to remove loose dirt, dust, hair and other debris before cleaning begins, so that dry soil is lifted out rather than turned to slurry by the water that follows.

03

Pre-Treatment & Spot Treatment

Stains, traffic lanes and heavily soiled areas are treated before the main clean, with chemistry matched to the stain and the fibre. The chemistry is then left to dwell and the pile is agitated, so that it reaches the base of the fibre and lifts the dirt into suspension before any extraction begins.

04

Deep Cleaning

Once the pre-treatment has had time to work, professional water extraction equipment flushes the pile with clean water and draws it straight back out, carrying the spent chemistry and the loosened dirt with it.

05

Deodorisation

Where it is needed, a neutralising deodoriser treats unwanted odours at the source rather than simply covering them with fragrance.

06

Final Treatment

A hypoallergenic rinse lifts out residual chemistry and allergens and leaves the carpet clean, fresh and ready for the final step. It is safe for infants, pets and anyone with sensitivities.

07

Grooming & Finishing

The carpet fibres are gently groomed back into place and a rejuvenation treatment is applied, leaving the carpet looking neat, refreshed and finished.

The Carpet Guys Academy certification badge

Academy Certified

Every project is handled by full-time technicians certified through The Carpet Guys Academy in professional carpet and rug cleaning, across eight modules of fibre identification, chemistry and extraction technique.

WoolSafe Trained

Our master technician has completed WoolSafe training and holds a WoolSafe certificate, and the solutions we use on wool carry the WoolSafe Approved mark. Full WoolSafe company registration additionally requires five years of trading, which is the one requirement still ahead of us, so we do not describe the company itself as WoolSafe certified.

I feel it is only fair to publicly apologise to our carpet. For months it lived in storage, collecting what I can only assume was a combination of dust, mystery stains, and a scent best described as "old cupboard meets regret." By the time we brought it home, it looked like it had been through a small war and smelled like it had lost. Enter The Carpet Guys. These gentlemen arrived with machines that looked far too serious for the job and an optimism I personally did not share. Instead, they worked some kind of cleaning wizardry. Not only did the carpet come back looking fresh and respectable, but the odour is gone. Completely. While they were here, they also tackled our L-shaped light couch, which was living dangerously between daily life, spills, and general human existence. It now looks brand new. Another huge plus was that whatever cleaning products they used didn't leave that overpowering chemical smell that normally lingers after a deep clean. The house smelled fresh, not like a science experiment, and we felt completely comfortable having our fur babies around without worrying about harsh chemicals. Professional, friendly, and clearly very good at resurrecting furniture that had started to give up on life. 5/5. My carpet has its dignity back, my couch has a second chance at life, and our cats can roam freely without me panicking about toxic fumes. Everyone wins.

Questions

What people ask before booking

What types of carpets and rugs do you clean?
We clean fitted carpets, carpet tiles, stairs and landings, along with every kind of loose rug: wool, natural silk, viscose, cotton, kilim, and hand-knotted Persian and oriental pieces. Carpet and rug care is all we do. Focusing on these textiles is what allows our technicians to build the day-to-day expertise needed to match the cleaning chemistry to your specific fibre, so that even delicate, high-value pieces are cleaned safely. Wool behaves differently from nylon, which behaves differently from viscose, and a hand-knotted rug behaves differently again from the broadloom in the same room, so identifying the fibre correctly is the step everything else follows from.
Do you clean upholstery, couches, mattresses or blinds?
No. We clean carpets and rugs. Upholstery, couches, office chairs, mattresses, headboards, curtains, blinds, outdoor and patio furniture and aircon vents are not services we offer, and they were withdrawn in August 2026 so that we could specialise. Some directories, cached pages and older listings still show them, so if you have seen us listed for upholstery or mattress cleaning anywhere, that listing is out of date. Cleaning carpet well is a fibre-judgement problem rather than an equipment problem, and that judgement is built by doing the same work every day. A rug is a loose carpet in fibre terms, which is why both are in scope.
Do you use hot water extraction or steam cleaning?
Neither. We use water extraction at normal temperature. Heat is not required for an effective clean, and avoiding it removes the shrinkage, felting and dye-bleed risks that heated water carries on wool, silk, viscose and dyed pile, so descriptions of our work as hot water extraction or steam cleaning are incorrect. The chemistry is delivered in the pre-spray and left to dwell, the pile is then agitated, and the extraction wand flushes with clean water only and recovers it in the same stroke.
How is professional rug cleaning different from carpet cleaning?
Carpets and rugs often share the same fibres, but their construction calls for entirely different methods. Fitted broadloom is deep-cleaned in place using professional water extraction, working with the pile direction and the underlay beneath it. A rug is a free-standing textile with finished edges, fringes and a backing, and on hand-knotted pieces the dyes are far more likely to migrate. To protect those structural elements, synthetic rugs are washed in our rug-washing machines, which gives those fibres the deepest clean they can take. Delicate natural fibres such as wool and silk are tested for dye-fastness and then washed by hand, section by section, in our own facility. Same fibres, same technicians, different techniques for different risks.
How long does it take for carpets and rugs to dry after cleaning?
Fitted carpets typically dry within 2 to 6 hours, depending on carpet thickness, ambient humidity and ventilation. Our low-moisture extraction keeps that window short, and opening windows and running a fan speeds it up considerably. Rugs are handled differently and take longer. A washed rug is dried flat in our facility under controlled conditions and monitored until the foundation is dry the whole way through, which can take up to two days. That deliberate, controlled drying is what makes sure the foundation dries completely, and it is what prevents structural warping, cockling and dye migration. No two rugs dry at the same rate: fibre, pile density and thickness, the foundation material, the age and condition of the rug, how heavily soiled it was, and the humidity on the day all move the figure, so we dry to the foundation rather than to the clock.
How long will my rug be away for?
Your rug is with us for 2 to 7 working days, counted from the day we collect it to the day it is delivered back. Where a rug falls in that range is decided first by the rug itself: a small, stable synthetic can be washed and dried inside a couple of days, while wool, silk, viscose, cotton, kilim and hand-knotted pieces are washed by hand, dye-tested before any moisture is applied, and then dried flat until the foundation is dry the whole way through, which can take up to two days on its own. The second factor is the queue: every rug is cleaned at our own dedicated rug facility, and the facility is frequently at capacity, so each rug is booked into a wash slot rather than started the moment it arrives. The second is the work itself. A rug is inspected and its fibre identified, dusted until it stops releasing dry soil, dye-tested colour by colour, washed by the method its fibre calls for, rinsed, spun in a centrifuge to draw the bulk of the water back out, groomed, then dried flat in our drying rooms until the foundation is dry the whole way through, which alone can take up to two days, and inspected once more before it is wrapped and returned. If you need the rug back by a particular date, tell us when you book and we will tell you honestly whether it fits.
